Abstract

(SOCIALIZATION MODELS AND PROCESS OF ROYAL TEMPLES AND PALACES TOUR GUIDE : A CASE STUDY OF ROYAL TEMPELS AND PALACES TOUR GUIDES IN BANGKOK)

Abstract

            This research aims ( 1 ) to study the patterns and processes of professional social transfer of royal temples and palaces (wat-wang) tour guides, ( 2 ) to study the strategies to convey professional social knowledge of wat-wang tour guides as the recipient and the informant for new generation of wat-wang tour guides, and ( 3 ) to seek ways to improve the work of professional wat-wang tour guides which are consistent with social and cultural changes of Thailand. The research is based on qualitative research based on case study and instrumental cases method was used. Study subjects consisted of two groups; 2 professional wat-wang tour guides and 2 new generation of wat-wang tour guides. Results of this current study was found that during the preparation to be wat-wang tour guides and being temples, the knowledge was transferred from the six major groups including teachers, parents, friends, media and tourists. These people transferred 8 contents to wat-wang tour guides. Results from knowledge transfer of wat-wang tour guide as the recipient and the informant showed that there are four ways of knowledge transfer as follows; 1) individual knowledge transfer by lectureor real practice; 2) informal and formal knowledge transfer by lecture at actual place, in the Keywords : Socialization Models, Socialization Process, Royal Temples and Palaces Tour Guidesclass, or discussion, etc; 3) procedure knowledge from teacher or senior by lecture and not procedure knowledges by parent and tourists 4.) knowledge transfer through model and non-model by narration, demonstration, etc. The process that involves developing of the work of wat-wang tour guides could reflect changes in Thai society and culture in three areas; 1) the development of knowledge, 2 ) the development of attitudes 3 ) the development of skills .
