About the Journal

Aims and Scope: 

Journal of Thai Studies aims to promote knowledge about Thai and Tai Studies, published twice a year (June and December) with 6-8 articles in each volume, includes subject matter that either come from intensive research by scholars or as part of an advance degree thesis or dissertation. In order to promote new Thai Studies scholars and interdisciplinary researchers, at least fifty percent of the journal is reserved for young and new scholars in Thai Studies.

The subject of the articles is generally in one of the following:

– Thai Studies – both as area studies and a specific field of study;

– Tai Studies – both area studies and some specific topics, such as Linguistic, Literature,

– Ethnography, Anthropology, Sociology, Politics, Health Science;

– Buddhist Studies and Thai Buddhism – For Buddhist Studies the research should be done in the Thai region and help to understand TaiThai Buddhism;

– Current issues regarding Thailand in a global context;

– Trends and critical theory on a subject in the Tai-Thai region; and

– Regional and comparative research, of which Thailand is a major subject of the research or that aims for an understanding of Tai-Thai.

Peer Review Process: 

The articles submitted for publication are peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers who are knowledgeable in the field as well as approved by the editorial board. Through out the peer-review process, both reviewers and author identities are hidden from each other (double-blind review).
