Salty diet controlling behaviors of hypertension patients at Mahosot hospital, Lao PDR.

Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to study salty diet controlling behaviors of hypertension patients. 382 hypertension patients who have treated  at Mahosot hospital, Lao PDR. were recruited. Data was collected during March-April 2015 by using salty diet controlling behaviors questionnaire, reliability was 0.83. The result revealed that;

  1. Top 5 of salty diet that hypertension patients ate in daily living were chili paste, spicy minced fish salad, kgawhie, noodles, and papaya salad.
  2. Overall of level of salty diet controlling behaviors; 65.2% was at moderate level, 30.6% was at low level and 4.2% was at good level.
  3. Level of salty diet controlling behaviors in selecting materials for cooking; 64.9% was at moderate level, 31.9% was at low level and 3.1% was at good level and level of salty diet controlling behaviors in seasoning; 60.5% was at moderate level, 28.3% was at low level and 11.3% was at good level.

The result showed that a little bit of hypertension patients had salty diet controlling behaviors in good level. Health personnel need to advice hypertension patients to be realized in salty diet controlling for blood pressure control effectiveness.
