Focus and Scope

Applied Economics Journal is a double blind peer-reviewed journal devoted to the applications of economic theories, concepts and methodologies to analyze well-defined research issues. It encourages empirical analysis, simulation, prediction and forecasting research. While it is aimed at academics and policy makers interested in the Thai and Asian economies, the journal also considers articles that deal with global issues. The primary criteria for selecting papers are originality, quality, and contribution to the field. Two issues are published a year, in June and December. The categories of articles include commentary, review articles, research articles and book reviews.

Peer Review Process

Review and Publication Process. Each manuscript is pre-screened by the editor as to whether it serves the journal’s aims and scope and the presentation is appropriate. If deemed suitable, it is sent to two referees for a double-blind peer review. Based on their recommendations, the editors decide whether the manuscript should be accepted as is, revised or rejected. This process is usually completed within 2 months. The referees’ reports will be sent to the author. The time period of 2-4 weeks is ordinarily given to the author for the revision. The revised manuscript and the note from the author on “Responses to the Referees’ Comments” should be submitted to the editor on a specified timeline. The editor will then inform the decision whether to accept, require more revision and then resubmit, or reject the paper. The author will be advised the final results of the review. The editorial team will do the scientific and language editing. The edited version will be sent to the author for the approval of the edit. In the final publication process, the author is responsible for the correction of the proof.

Criteria for Acceptance of Manuscript. Manuscript acceptability is based primarily on the following criteria of the content:
1) New contribution or value added to the knowledge fund is clearly presented,
2) Problems and objectives are clearly presented and the objectives are relevant to the problem,
3) Theory, methodology, tool and analysis are appropriate and justified,
