Abstract

The study on model of the Community Participation for health promotion of the elderly, Nonthaburi Province, aimed to develop an exercise program to improve self-efficacy and self-control of the elderly, Nonthaburi Province; to create a model for relationship building and to develop a health promotion program based on self – efficacy and self –care behaviors on Nutrition of the elderly with family participation and to propose health promotion guidelines for the elderly in Nonthaburi Province. Samples of the study consisted of 35 elderly people purposively selected in Pracha Niwet Community 2, Phase 3, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. The study was conducted from November 2017 – May 2018 by employing Participatory Action Research (PAR)  technique. Quasi-experiments of the three major activities were also used to determine the  efficacy of the programs and the model.Qualitative and quantitative data were collected and analyzed. It was found that the mentioned exercise program, the model for relationship building of the elderly as well as the health promotion program based on self – efficacy and self –care behaviors on nutrition of the elderly had significant efficacy in health promotion of the elderly in Nonthaburi Province and these programs / model could be applied and properly used in health promotion for the elderly in other communities of elderly people with similar contexts. Systematic guidelines on effective community participation for the elderly health promotion were also proposed.
