Abstract

This action research aimed to develop the practice guidelines in supporting and facilitating research productivity for academic staffs and examined the effectiveness of the practice guidelines. The participants consisted of 64 academic staffs at Phrapokklao Nursing College, Chanthaburi in 2015. Data collection tools composed of: the questionnaire about satisfaction with the support for research and innovation based on college identity, research project record form, and open-ended questionnaire, which explores the comments and suggestions of the academic staffs regarding support and facilitation in conducting the research. The data was analyzed using the Repeated Measures ANOVA and Bonferonni’s method. The percentage of the research projects before and after developing the guidelines were compared using the McNemar’s test. The qualitative data from open-ended questions were analyzed using content analysis. The results revealed that the satisfaction mean score after developing the guideline in 2015 (M = 4.65 ± 0.18) and 2016 (M =4.69 ± 0.41) were statistically significantly higher than those in 2013 (M = 4.23 ± 0.53) and 2014 (M =4.24 ± 0.24), (F= 38.271, p < .001). The number of research projects after developing the guideline in the year 2015 and 2016 were significantly higher than those in 2013 and 2014 (p < .01 and p < .001, respectively). The qualitative data reported that the academic staffs were satisfied with the strategies that drive research productivity, the service mind and facilitation from supporting staff and benefit to the researchers in conducting the research.
