Abstract

This paper examines what factors will affect the consumers’ intention to recycle courier cartons. According to Theory of Planned Behavior, the objective of this research was to investigate the effect of environmental protection awareness, green consumption cognition, economic incentive, and convenience of recycling on the consumers’ intention to recycle courier cartons. The research respondents were from first- and third-tier cities in the coastal region of southeastern China, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Jieyang and Chaozhou. A systematic random sampling was taken, and a total of 456 valid questionnaires were finally collected. The research performes multiple regression analysis, with environmental protection awareness, green consumption cognition, economic incentive, convenience of recycling as independent variables, and the consumers’ intention to recycle courier cartons as the dependent variable. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, environmental protection awareness, green consumption cognition, economic incentive, and convenience of recycling have influence on the consumers’ intention to recycle courier cartons. Second, when comparing these four variables, green consumption cognition of consumers had the greatest impact on the consumers’ intention to recycle courier cartons.
