Abstract

Based on the comparison of four papers pertaining to the analysis on errors made by international students in using synonymy of Chinese verbs, the purpose of the research is to study the errors made by Thai students in Synonymy of Chinese verbs and learning strategies. The analysis results showed that 1. The types of errors made by Thai students can be divided into semantic errors and grammar errors; 2. The causes of errors made by Thai students mainly include the effect of native language, the effect of Chinese language, the effect of teaching method, the effect of reference books and textbooks, the effect
of learning strategies, and Chinese skill of the students; 3. “Near-synonym discrimination and analysis” is the teaching method to help students to correct the errors of Chinese near-synonyms, and it includes
morpheme analysis method, comparative analysis method, structure analysis method, and contextual analysis method. Furthermore, some useful teaching methods are proposed in the research, such as
recording the videos of Chinese near-synonyms for off-class learning and holding Chinese near-synonyms competitions. Regarding the learning methods, the international students should learn Chinese culture and language customs of Chinese people, always raise questions and practice near-synonym discriminations. These methods can help students to improve their Chinese language levels and abilities in using Chinese near-synonym.
