STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHER IN GENERAL BUDDHIST SCHOOL

Abstract

 The objectives of this study were to assess the needs assessment for development of  teacher professional of general Buddhist schools and to study teacher professional development strategies.  This study used mixed methods research consisting of 2 phrases.   Phase 1: The study of current conditions and desirable to determine the requirements needed for development of  teacher professional used questionnaire for 354 teachers  general Buddhist schools.  Phrase 2: The qualitative study focus group discussion with 15 experts and seminar was attended by 40 participants. with general Buddhist schools, analyzing the contents according to the objectives of the study.


                  The results


  1. The Need Assessment of teachers professional development descending order was: Collaborative networks of forces (PNImodified= 0.16), Supportive Structures and Environment (PNImodified = 0.15) Individual Teacher Need  (PN Imodified  = 0.14),  Acting under Professional standards (PN Imodified  = 0.13), Learning of students and teachers  (PN Imodified  = 0.13) and Following the Acting under KulayanamitDhamma. (PN Imodified  = 0.10).

  2. Teacher professional development strategies suitable and useful for general Buddhist schools 6 strategies include Build collaborative networks of forces. Organize the structure and environment supporting professional development of personel. Create a professional development system to meet the need of each teacher. Implement measures to promote compliancce with professional standards. Develop student and teacher learning. Promote the practice of moral principles. consisted of   6 goals, , 9 Measure and 36 indicators .
