Abstract

Assessment in art education is the assessment of learning, focusing on the balance of three objectives: the cognitive process, art skills and inner social behavior, which reflect the quality of their work. During the art learning process, an assessment in art education is best described as a process aiming to develop the artistic progress using art content through art activities. The formative assessment methods used by teachers, self and peer on an ongoing basis help students achieve to the best of their abilities and this is the most important part of the learning process. In the traditional assessment methods in art education, the learning process of the learners while making artwork was not as important as the work of art itself. Formative assessment reflects on the intrinsic qualities of the learners, which is often overlooked in the process of assessment. The philosophy, tools and methods of art education assessment will help art teachers understand what has changed in students. Using the guiding principles of art education in order to enhance the development of learners is enabled through the use of formative assessment.
