Abstract
บทความนี้ขอนำเสนอการเตรียมความพร้อมด้านความเข้าใจถึงสถานะ บทบาทของภาษาอังกฤษในแบบต่างๆ รวมถึงภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษากลางของอาเซียน เจตคติที่เปิดกว้างต่อภาษาอังกฤษที่หลากหลาย รวมถึงข้อเสนอแนะด้านการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษเพื่ออาเซียน ทั้งนี้เพื่อหวังที่จะให้ผู้สอนได้นำไปขับเคลื่อน ปรับใช้ในการเรียนการสอนที่เหมาะสมกับบริบทการสอนของตน โดยคำนึงถึงการนำไปใช้สื่อสารจริงในบริบทอาเซียนในท่ามกลางสภาวการณ์ปัจจุบันที่ยังไม่มีแนวทางปฏิบัติหรือมีการกำหนดสาระมาตรฐานการเรียนรู้เพื่อให้ผู้เรียนหรือพลเมืองไทยมีทักษะการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษทัดเทียมกับพลเมืองในประเทศอื่นๆ ในอาเซียนแต่อย่างใด
This ariticle aims to empower Thai English teachers to undersatand the status, functions and variety of English used worldwile, to promote understanding in a varitety of English in ASEAN with an open-minded, and to suggest some pedagogical guidelines. Thus, it is hoped that the preparation suggested in the article would gear Thai English teachers as self-directed practitioners who are able to reconceptualize the practical purposes of English as a lingua franca (ELF) for ASEAN and implement the change that suits their teaching context, despite the uncertainty and inconclusiveness of English teaching policy in ASEAN context in Thailand.
