Interviewing Strategies of Vuthithorn Milintachinda in “Woody Kerd Ma Kui” Program

Abstract

This research aims to study the interviewing strategies of Vuthithorn Milintachinda. The data for this research since 2013–2017 were  from 40 episodes of the interviews in “Woody Kerd-ma-Kui.”

From the result of the interviewing strategies, there were various strategies of asking for an answer.  The results revealed that there were 4 types of asking strategies. It was the notice from the research, there were no opposed question, provocative or pressed question for finding the answer. The most found was stating an information-checking question about 42.83 percent, repeating a question about 31.08 percent, changing word in question about 16.73 percent, and guiding to a certain answer about 9.36 percent. Furthermore, they found the interviews using other language strategies to achieve the objective in other 3 strategies: repeating an answer about 48.29 percent, praising the interviewee about 41.02 percent and adding information 10.69 percent.

Remark from the result, the interviewer used an information-checking question by adopting the assisting words to support the interviewee. It was also found in the case of finding fact from interviewee when they refused the question or gave an answer that the interviewer thought was not the real answer by change-question, repeat question strategies.
