The Effects of Using Kolb's Experience Learning Activities to Develop Teacher Collective Leadership in Bangkok Metropolitan Schools

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the effect of using teacher collective leadership model in Bangkok Metropolitan Schools, concerning to the collective leadership and teamwork competencies in different groups and period of time, 2) to study the satisfaction of teachers toward the teacher collective leadership development model. The samples consisted of 72 teachers, in Bangkok Metropolitan Schools in the academic year, 2017. Which was divided into two groups, experimental and control groups, each group had 36 teachers. Samples were randomly selected by stratified random sampling procedure. Experiment was conducted in the second semester of the 2017 academic year, by using the Pretest and Multiple-Posttest Design by measuring in the follow up period. The research instruments were the collective leadership questionnaire, RAI=.819, the teamwork competencies and the satisfaction questionnaires with Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient=.923, and .905 respectively. The statistics were used to analyze data including; mean, standard deviation, repeated measures MANOVA and content analysis. The research findings were as follows:


The experimental group and control group had the average score of collective leadership and teamwork competencies, when measured in different periods of time, significantly differed at a level of .01 (Pillai’s Trace=.560, F = 21.685, df = 4,67 p=.000). Based on groups and time periods, the experimental group had collective leadership and teamwork competencies score statistically significantly differed at the .05 level, on the other hand, the control group was not. The experimental group, satisfied to the teacher collective leadership development model in a very high level (M=4.675, SD=0.345).
