บทคัดย่อ

ชื่อสถานที่บ่งบอกถึงประวัติที่มาของชุมชนและลักษณะทางภูมิศาสตร์ ชื่ออำเภอก็เช่นเดียวกัน ดังนั้น บทความวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายภาษาที่ใช้ในการตั้งชื่ออำเภอในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ผู้วิจัยรวบรวมและวิเคราะห์รายชื่ออำเภอจำนวน 306 ชื่อ จาก 20 จังหวัด บทความนี้ใช้แนวคิดด้านภาษาของชื่อสถานที่ (Place Name) ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ภาษาที่ใช้ในการตั้งชื่ออำเภอมีที่มาจาก 3 ภาษา  ได้แก่ ภาษาไทยถิ่นอีสาน  ภาษาบาลีสันสกฤต และภาษาเขมร  โดยมี 2 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ ชื่อที่ปรากฏภาษาเดียว และชื่อที่ปรากฏ 2 ภาษา โดยพบว่าชื่อที่ปรากฏภาษาเดียวมากที่สุด คือ จำนวน 240 ชื่อ และชื่อที่ปรากฏการปนกัน 2 ภาษา จำนวน 66 ชื่อ ภาษาที่ปรากฏในชื่ออำเภอเหล่านี้สะท้อนให้เห็นลักษณะเฉพาะบางประการของกลุ่มคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ต่าง ๆ ของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือโดยชื่ออำเภอที่อยู่ในกลุ่มจังหวัดสุรินทร์ บุรีรัมย์ ศรีสะเกษ ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นภาษาบาลีสันสกฤต และภาษาเขมร ตามภาษาของกลุ่มผู้พูดซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์เขมร ส่วนพื้นที่อื่น ๆ นิยมใช้ภาษาไทยถิ่นอีสาน

 

 

 Abstract

          Place name can display the communities’ history and geography, so can district name. Therefore, this qualitative research article aims to explain the language which used for naming districts in northeast region of Thailand. 306 districts names from 20 provinces are collected and analyzed. The concept of “Place name” is applied. The results are found that there 3 languages which are used for naming districts: Isan, Pali-Sanskrit, and Cambodian. There are 2 forms of district names: the monolingual names and the bilingual names. The monolingual names is mostly found, there are 240 names in total. As for bilingual names, there are 66 names. The languages which appear in district names reflect in part of characteristic people in each areas of northeast region. Most of sistrict names in Surin, Burirum, and Srisaket provinces are Pali-Sanskrit and Cambodian, because people who live there are Cambodian. As for other areas, it is found that Isan language is mostly used.
