การพัฒนาสมรรถนะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษของนักศึกษาไทยเป็นเรื่องที่มีความสำคัญเร่งด่วน ที่จะช่วยให้นักศึกษามีคุณภาพทัดเทียมระดับสากล ปัจจุบันพบว่า นักศึกษาพยาบาลในระดับอุดมศึกษาของวิทยาลัยพยาบาลเครือข่ายภาคกลาง 1 ส่วนใหญ่ ไม่มีหลักการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษที่ถูกต้อง ทำให้ไม่เข้าใจเนื้อหา  ผู้สอนจึงต้องมีวิธีการช่วยพัฒนาผู้เรียนมากขึ้นนอกเหนือจากการสอนตามปกติ โดยในต่างประเทศและในประเทศไทยได้เริ่มมีการนำหลักอภิปัญญา (Metacognition) มาใช้ในการพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษและพบว่ามีประสิทธิผลดี เนื่องจากช่วยให้ผู้อ่านมีกระบวนการอ่านอย่างเป็นระบบ บทความนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับอภิปัญญาให้ผู้สอนเข้าใจและนำไปใช้ในการจัดการเรียนการสอนเพื่อพัฒนาสมรรถนะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษสำหรับนักศึกษาในระดับอุดมศึกษาต่อไป

Abstract

The improvement of English reading competency of Thai students in higher education is urgent. It enables students to qualify for  international communication. However, most nursing students in the Central College Network 1 do not have effective skills in English, particularly in reading. Therefore, they cannot comprehend the content of what they reading. Apart from routine style of teaching, teachers should find effective methods to improve the English competency of their students. Metacognition is one of the methods effectively used to improve English reading competency internationally and in Thailand as it enables students to read systematically. This article aimed to propose the concept of metacognition in terms of meaning, factors of metacognition and how to improve English reading competency. Teachers will understand the principles and can apply them in their teaching, especially English subject in higher education.
