Construct Validity of the Attitude toward Continuing Study on Vocational Education Scale

Abstract

The objective of this study was to provide the evidence for construct validity of the Attitudes toward Continuing Study on Vocational Education Scale by (1) studying the fitted model between 3 competing models (2) studying the relationship between attitude toward continuing study on vocational education and intention to study on vocational education and 3) comparing the attitude toward continuing study on vocational education between vocational education students and high school students. Participants of this study were 730 9th grade students from Phisanulok, Sukhothai, and Kampaengphet. Twenty-five items with 2 dimensions, affective and cognitive were constructed to measure the attitude toward continuing study on vocational education. Confirmatory factor analysis, logistic regression, and independent t-test were employed to analyses the data. The results revealed that:
1) attitude toward continuing study on vocational education with 2 dimensions model (affective, cognitive) was better fitted than 1 dimension model and more parsimonious than 3 dimensions model. 2) Both cognitive and affective dimensions were affected to intention to study on vocational education and 3) the differences between vocational student and high school student were found.
