Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop competency-based skills training for repairing electrical appliances providing heat energy and to determine the efficiency of the training. The sample group was chosen using purposive sampling and consisted of 25 second year vocational certificate students who were enrolled in the course ‘Repairing Electrical Appliances’ (2104-2111). The tools for collecting data were a lesson in competency-based skills training, an achievement test, a competency-based skills test, and a qualitative evaluation of content and media production techniques. Statistics utilized for data analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

The results of the study revealed that the quality of the lesson (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.79, S.D. = 0.32) and media production techniques (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.72, S.D. = 0.27) were at the great level. When the efficiency of the competency-based skills training was considered, it was found that all students passed the test with average scores 83.44 percent which was higher than 80 percent of the specified criterion.
