Strategies for using the potential of the elderly to develop local communities in Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research focused on studying the potentials of the elderly with the purposes to study the potentials of the elderly for the development of the local communities in Chiang Rai province and to study some factors influencing the use of the potentials of the elderly for the development of the local communities in Chiang Rai province and study the Strategies for using the potential of the elderly to develop local communities in Chiang Rai Province. It was a qualitative research. The analysis used were Path Analysis and Causative and Qualitative Relation. The data collection was done on 400 people consisting of some elderly in Chiang Rai province, some nationally and locally well-accepted retired private and government officers through 2 kinds of tool : an in-dept interview, a participating observation and a focus group. The results showed that the factor influencing the potential of the elderly the most could be Society, the next one being Economics, the next one being Personality, the next on being Motivation, the next one being Attitudes and the last one being Networks consecutively.
