The study was a cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the level of mental
health status and the associated factors with mental health status among older people
in Nang Rong District, Burirum Province.The sample consisted of 375 older people who
were lived in Nang Rong District.The subjects were recruited by multi-stage random
sampling. Data were collected by inquiring between July to November 2017. Data were
collected using the questionnaires consisted of 6 Parts: 1) The interview for demographic
data, 2) Bathel index of Activities of Daily Living Assessment, 3) Social support Evaluation,
4) Family Relationship Evaluation, 5) The interview for participants in community activity,
and 6) Thai Mental Health Indicator (TMHI-15). Data were analyzed by using descriptive
statistics and chi-square test.
The result showed that the majority samples had a general mental health
level (49.3%), followed by better mental health level (33.6%). Marital status, income
suffciency, social support, family relationship and community participants activity were
statistically signifcant related with mental health status among older people were (p<.05).
The fnding provided the information that is useful for planning development and promoting
the mental health status in particular promoting the family good relationship, supporting
to the older people to have suffcient income, and motivating the community participation
activities in order to improve the better mental health level among older people.
