Abstract

The application of the Crystal-Based Instructional Model for the demonstration of basic nursing procedures in the course Basic Nursing, the Royal Thai Army Nursing College, encourages learners to ask questions and participate in the demonstration. As part of this model, mind mapping is employed to design learning about basic nursing procedures in the form of infographics. This aims to facilitate and reinforce learners’ understanding of basic nursing procedures and provide them with long-term memory about these procedures. In addition, this model addresses the issue of non-comprehensive learning associated with a large group of learners. It helps to stimulate learners’ eagerness to learn and encourages them to conduct research to ensure that their basic nursing procedures are of high quality and are safe for their patients as well as themselves. This model is in line with the principles and practices of 21st century knowledge management, which focus on the development of cognitive skills, especially analytical thinking, synthesis, and problem-solving skills. It allows learners to create methods of creating knowledge about basic nursing procedures, improve their skills related to carrying out the procedures, and apply the experience gained from the demonstration in other different situations.
