Herbal Medicines and Hemorrhoid Disease

Abstract

Hemorrhoids are a vein disorder occurring specifically in the veins of the rectum. They are
caused by constipation, insufficient fiber intake, and pregnancy among other causes. The most
common symptoms of hemorrhoids are anal bleeding, anal pain, anal swelling, and anal itching.
These symptoms will cause patients discomfort and anxiety. There are many ways to treat
a hemorrhoid disorder. Herbal medicine is one way. There are many pharmacological activities
of herbal medicines including anti-inflammatory, venotonic and analgesic effects. Therefore, herbal
medicine could be an alternative medicine for hemorrhoid treatment in hemorrhoid patients.
