Abstract

This research is a Quasi Experimental Research Design (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design) study on the efficacy of using the contorted hermit exercise to treat children with attention disorders, with a goal to increase concentration in these children. The sample group was 4 children who have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by a pediatrician. The data was collected before, after the program had been applied by observing behavior in the children, and recorded the disorder’s effects on a behavior record form. The 30-minute program was conducted once a week for 6 weeks. The data was then analysed using descriptive statistics, for instance Mean and Standard Deviation, and content analysis. The demographics of the 4 volunteers in this study were male, aged between 7–8 years old, one was diagnosed with ADHD only (25%), and the other three were diagnosed with both autism and ADHD (75%). They could read, write, and understand commands. The results showed that after the program had been applied, the experimental group’s behaviors such as impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattention decreased. The sample group’s behavior changed clearly in accordance with the changes of their blood pressure and heart rate, that decreased in activity in each week.
