Administration of Modern Technology and Social Network Adoption for People Services of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority according to the Digital Era Administration Concept

Abstract

Objectives of this study were mainly to explore (1) problems of administration of modern technology and social network adoption for people services of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority according to the Digital Era Administration Concept, (2) development guidelines of administration of modern technology and social network adoption for people services of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority according to the Digital Era Administration Concept, and (3) strategies of administration of modern technology and social network adoption for people services of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority according to the Digital Era Administration Concept. The Digital Era Administration Concept of 10 aspects was applied as major conceptual framework of this study.

            Methodology of this study was constructed the research design as a mixed methods research using quantitative research as principal measure and supported by qualitative research. The quantitative research was survey research collecting large field data with questionnaires. The questionnaires passed try out of validity check at level of 0.92 and reliability check at level of 0.83. Population was all 456,965 people residing in the areas the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority. Total of 1,112 samples were calculated by using Taro Yamane’s formula. Field data collection was conducted during August 1-31, 2017, and total 950 completed sets of questionnaire which equaled with 85.43 % of the 1,112 total samples were returned. Data analysis was represented in contingency table with descriptive approach. Descriptive statistics exercised were mean, and standard deviation. For qualitative data, in-depth interview of 9 experts, for 30 minutes each, and face to face interview with structured in-depth interview form was also applied. The interviewed data then was processed, interpreted and analyzed in table with description.

            Research results were (1) the major problem of administration was the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority' s insufficient adoption of modern technology and social network for people services according to the Digital Era Administration Concept, (2) the major development guidelines of administration were the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority should adopt the modern technology and social network for people services in terms of giving significances to people benefits and serving people needs extensively, comprehensively and thoroughly, and (3) the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority should establish the strategy of administration of modern technology and social network adoption for people services the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority according to the Digital Era Administration Concept. The significant strategy should respectively consist of 6 aspects: People, Convenience, Dependability, Initiative, Technology, and Coordination network.
