Abstract

This research sought to review academic documents worldwide about the use of Data
Journalism. The documentary research methodology was used to examine and analyze all  related documents from 1996 to 2016, which were found in the international academic online database system. The results showed that there were 33 academic documents related to the use of Data Journalism. In fact, the Data Journalism has fully been interested in the area of the academic study since 2011. Furthermore, all academic documents were synthesized to understand the overview of Data Journalism process. Then, there were 5 main points as follows; 1) the current use of Data Journalism of media organizations, 2) the categorization of Data Journalism process, 3) the factors behind the success of Data Journalism usage, 4) the required skills for the use of Data Journalism, and 5) the obstacles and the problems in applying the Data Journalism process into works. These findings can be used to fulfill the area of Data Journalism studying or any other related fields. Moreover, media organizations can apply these findings to have a better understanding about the use of Data Journalism as well as enhance the working competency of media organizations in Thailand.
