FACTORS INFLUENCING TO EMPLOYEE RETENTION OF HOTEL IN ANDAMAN COAST: CASE STUDY OF 4-STAR HOTELS IN PHUKET PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the quality of work life factors influencing employee retention of 4-star hotels in Phuket province, and 2) to study the career development factors influencing employee retention of 4-star hotels in Phuket province. Quantitative research was selected for this research. Samples of research were 4-star hotel staffs in Phuket. There were 400 questionnaires distributed. This research was analyzed by descriptive statistics (percentage) and test hypotheses through multiple regression analysis with stepwise selection. The results of the study were as follows: In term of quality of work life factors influencing employee retention of 4-star hotels in Phuket province, the predicted coefficient (R2) was .461 and there were four variables that influenced the employee retention, namely, Social Integration in the Work Organization; Adequate and fair Compensation; Opportunity to growth and security; and Social relevance of work life. In term of the career coefficient development factors influencing employee retention of 4-star hotels in Phuket province, the predicted (R2) was .459 and there were two variables that influenced the employee retention, namely, Advances in salaries, and Opportunities for self-improvement.
