A Study of Knowledge Management of Manufacturing Bamboo Products: The Case of Interested Group Surrounding Kalasin University

Abstract

This is a Research aims to study 1) the knowledge management and 2) problem of knowledge management of interested group surrounding Kalasin University in the Production of Bamboo products. Target groups are from member of interested groups surrounding Kalasin University in producing bamboo products. The data is collected using four tools; interview, observation, workshops and reflection recording performance (After Action Review: AAR) and then analyzed the presented data content using descriptive analysis method. The results showed that: 1. Group management knowledge. Key steps included in the preparation of the team to create a shared vision, developing the team, action plan for knowledge management and put the plan into practice reflecting the performance of knowledge management as follows: 1) identify the knowledge. Members of the group know about the benefits of bamboo species and its different kinds 2) the pursuit of new knowledge and developing it including knowledge of product processing, registration into small micro-enterprise (SMEs) 3) the transfer of knowledge. Promoting the products and educating community members and others in each village using radio station and face to face contact 4) the storage of knowledge. Knowledge is stored with a person who is a member of the Knowledge Management. The members lack the insight and knowledge that cannot be recorded from learning. They have no computer skills and lack of motivation in the group, tools and networks to exchange knowledge.
