Abstract

 Objectives: This documentary research is aimed to examine nursing images
among movies released in Thailand, within different contexts. Studied movies were
limited to those showed between 2005 -2015.
Design: Descriptive documentary research.
Methodology: Inclusion criteria includes movies showed in Thailand with contents
or actors related to nursing, professional nurses, and nursing students, and specifc to
those with higher than 20 million baht income or movies awards recipients’/nominees.
Total number of movies selected were 7 movies. Qualitative data analysis method was
employed.
Results: The research result from 7 movies demonstrates major themes of nursing
image included: 1) Mother and wife (virtue) in 3 movies, 2) Helper in 3 movies, and
3) Liberating women in 1 movie. The summary result indicates the positive nursing
image in most of the movies with their moral goodness, which fnally overcome the
darkness at the end. They are strong professional helpers who has high intellectual
ability and forwards thinking.
Recommendation: The results from, the study can be used to guide ways for
improving nurse image in movies.
