Signage System Design for Communication between Thai Highway Police Officer and Foreigners by Using “The Relation of Ideas” Theory

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the effects of signage system design for communication between Thai Highway Police Officer and foreigners by using “the Relation of Ideas” theory. The samples which were used in this study were 1) 118 Thai Highway Police Officers currently serving in three main tourist areas; Phuket, Pattaya, Cha-am – Hua Hin 2) 23 experts in graphic design and 3) 300 foreigners who currently use the highways in these three areas. The instruments constructed included 1) questionnaires; rating scale and checklist which had validity value of 0.8 and 2) constructed interview which had validity value of 0.8. Mean average, percentage and standard deviation were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that

1) Signage with no background or human action is the most effective communication. 

2) Black on yellow was the most effective combination of colors in the design of the signage system for communication with foreigners.
