การสำรวจความต้องการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษของนักศึกษาคริสตศาสนศาสตร์ในกรุงเทพฯ

Abstract

           การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจความต้องการการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษของนักศึกษาคริสตศาสนศาสตร์ในกรุงเทพฯ ที่มีต่อวิชาภาษาอังกฤษที่มีการสอนอยู่ในหลักสูตรของสถาบัน ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นนักศึกษาทั้งหมดทั้งชายและหญิงที่ลงทะเบียนและเข้าเรียนในภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2559 จำนวน 36 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็นแบบสอบถามแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ตอนคือ 1) ข้อมูลทั่วไปเกี่ยวกับผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม 2) ความต้องการทักษะในการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ 3) ความสนใจเนื้อหาในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ  ทั้งเรื่องในชีวิตประจำวันและที่เกี่ยวกับศาสนาคริสต์ การวิจัยมีระดับประมาณค่า 5 ระดับ สถิติที่ใข้ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ความถี่ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

            ตอนที่ 1 ข้อมูลทั่วไปเกี่ยวกับผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม มีเพศชายและหญิงร้อยละ 50 เท่ากัน            วุฒิการศึกษามัธยม 6 และปวช./ปวส. ร้อยละ 44 ปริญญาตรีร้อยละ 34 ปริญญาโทร้อยละ 22 สำหรับการทำกิจกรรม นักศึกษาชอบแบบทำเป็นคู่ รองมาเป็นกลุ่มย่อย พื้นฐานความรู้เดิมภาษาอังกฤษ นักศึกษาประเมินตนเองว่าควรปรับปรุงร้อยละ 58

            ตอนที่ 2 ความต้องการทักษะในการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ ร้อยละ 56 ต้องการเรียนเป็นวิชาบังคับเสริมพื้นฐาน รองมาร้อยละ 36 ต้องการเรียนเป็นวิชาเลือก และคิดว่าการวัดผลควรเป็นเหมือนวิชาอื่นๆ คือ A ถึง F มีถึงร้อยละ 64 นอกจากนี้ ร้อยละ 56 อยากให้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษ 2 ชั่วโมงต่อวัน และร้อยละ 31 ต้องการเรียน 3 วันต่อสัปดาห์ นักศึกษาต้องการพัฒนาทักษะการพูด และการฟังมาก ในด้านอาจารย์ผู้สอนควรมีจำนวนคนไทยและต่างชาติอย่างละครึ่ง และอยากให้ผู้สอนพูดภาษาอังกฤษเป็นส่วนใหญ่และพูดไทยเมื่อจำเป็น

            ตอนที่ 3 ความสนใจเนื้อหา นักศึกษาต้องการให้เน้นเรื่องคริสตศาสนามากกว่าเรื่องทั่วไปในชีวิตประจำวัน สำหรับในเรื่องคริสตศาสนา นักศึกษาสนใจระดับมากที่สุดคือ เรื่องเกี่ยวกับพระคริสตธรรมคัมภีร์ (เช่น ภาคพันธสัญญาเก่าและใหม่) และพระเจ้า (เช่น พระฉายาและพระลักษณะของพระเจ้า) ส่วนหัวข้อที่ได้คะแนนเฉลี่ยน้อยที่สุดอยู่ในระดับปานกลางคือเรื่องซาตาน สำหรับเนื้อหาเรื่องในชีวิตประจำวัน นักศึกษาสนใจอยู่ในระดับมาก ซึ่งอันดับสูงสุดคือ เรื่องธุรกิจการค้า และอับดับสุดท้ายคือเรื่องการกีฬา 

          This research was the survey of needs for theological students in Bangkok. The purpose of this research was to investigate the needs of students toward the English courses in an institute. The population was the total number of 36 students, both male and female, at TBTS who registered in the second semester, 2016 academic year. The tool used in this research was a set of questionnaire that included 3 parts, 1) general background, 2) needs in study English, and 3) personal perspective in reading topics with 5 rating scales measurement. Data were analyzed through use of percentage, frequency, average, and standard deviation. The findings of the research were as follow:

             1) The general background: the total 36 subjects were 50% male and 50% female. There are 44% under graduated students, 34% bachelor degree graduated students, and 22% master degree graduated students. Students prefer doing activities with pair and small group. There were 58% who evaluated themselves that they should improve their English.

             2) The needs in study English: 56% of students need to study English as a core course subject, and 36% would like to register English as an elective subject. The evaluation of English courses should be graded the same as other subjects from A to F. There are 64% of students who preferred to study English 2 hours per days, and 56% of them preferred to study 3 days per week. They viewed speaking and listening skills as the most needed skills for improvement. Furthermore, the instructors should be an equal number of Thai and native speakers who can speak Thai when necessary.

             3) The results of personal perspective in reading topics: the subjects in English courses were wanted Christian content to emphasize that is the Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) and God (image and attribute of God) were the most interesting. However, Satan was the least preference topic. For general content, students need to study commercial topic the most but sports the least.
