Abstract

The objective of this study was to study the level of knowledge, understanding and expectations of the (Huachiew Chalermprakiet University) HCU staff on ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). This study was a Survey Research that collected data from a population using a single measurement (One - Short Case Study). The population was 321 HCU staffs. Questionnaires were used as the instrument for data collection. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics; frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The hypothesis was tested by using inferential statistics. Since the distribution of the data was not a normal distribution, therefore, non-parametric statistics, Chi-Square Test, was used to test the hypothesis. The level of significance was set at α = 0.05.

The results showed that the population; female and males were approximately as the same amount. The range of age was 31-35 years old while the marriage status; single and married were approximately similar number. The education level of the population was mostly at Bachelor Degree and working for HCU Department for at least 10 year long. The average income was 10,001 to 20,000 Bath monthly. The level of knowledge about the AEC of the respondents on average was moderate and the level of understanding the AEC by most of the respondents was good. The hypothesis test showed that the personal factor in the level of education, level of income and working period significantly affected the knowledge of the AEC at α = 0.05 while the other factors did not show significantly effect. The level of education and level of income significantly affected the understanding of the AEC at α = 0.05 while the other factors did not show significantly effect. Level of education significantly affected the expectation of HCU staff from the AEC at α = 0.05 while the other factors did not show significantly effect.
