Currently, the prevalence of multiple risk behaviors (smoking, alcohol drinking, and sexual risk behavior) among Thai adolescents have increased. It means that adolescents engage in two or more risk behaviors. As of this situation, an adolescent who has a single risk behavior is more likely to have other risk behaviors. An analysis among these three risk behaviors shows that there are some overlapping among these 3 main issues including as follows 1) individual factors (exe., academic achievement, attitude towards risk behavior, self-efficacy to avoid risk behavior, emotional intelligence, and time management), 2) family factors (i.e., parental monitoring, relationship with the parent), and 3) environmental factors (i.e., friend motivation, social prevention, provoke media). These factors which are viewed as protective factors are necessary to prevent multiple lifestyle behaviors. In order to solve this problem, nurses and related professions should change their view point to consider adolescents’ risk behaviors as multiple risk behaviors. In order to deal with this situation, the participation of all sectors that are related to the risk behavior problems of adolescents including adolescent, family, and community are of special concerned.
