Abstract

This descriptive research aims to study healthcare behaviors of the university students engaging in virtual marital relationships by using the World Health Organization sexual and reproductive healthcare framework. The sample were 173 university students aged 18 years and over from universities located in Bangkok. They were selected by purposive sampling using response driven sampling. The data collection was done by using the sexual and reproductive healthcare behaviors questionnaire. The content validity index was .91 and the overall reliability of the tool was .89. The data were analyzed by using frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The study results illustrated that the overall behaviors in sexual and reproductive healthcare among the university students were at the very appropriate level. For each subscale, the following subscales were scored at the very appropriate level: hygiene and sexual health care behaviors, controlling of sexually transmitted disease, maintaining relationship and dealing with problems, and preserving the sexual right; whereas controlling of unwanted pregnancy and accessing to sexual education resources were scored at the moderate level. The results of this research can serve as the basis for providing proactive nursing management to educate adolescents about sexual behaviors and reproductive healthcare and offering appropriate and friendly, easily accessible adolescent sexual health services.
