Abstract

This cross-sectional research aimed to examine factors related to undertaken of standard quality elderly clubs in Nakhon Pathom province. Simple random sampling technique was used to recruit 102 leaders from elderly clubs. Data were collected during September 2014 - December 2014. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation). Single variable relationships were analyzed using chi-square test to determine the correlations of each pair of variables.

The findings indicated that the operation of most standard quality elderly clubs in Nakhon Pathom met good to excellent criteria (40.20% and 38.20%, respectively). The factors of funding by elderly club members, news and information from other sources, committee responsibility sharing methods, overall community participation, and overall club management procedures statistically significantly correlated to the operation of standard quality elderly clubs (p<.05).

The findings might be beneficial for executives or stakeholders involved in the operation of local or area standard quality elderly club. Funding supported by elderly club members, providing news and information from other sources in addition to public health personnel, promoting community participation, and improving club management skills and procedures in order to run the elderly club effectively. These will enable elderly club operations to reach their maximum future success, and benefit people in the area.
