Video media is an effective educational multimedia that enable learners to see practice process and procedures clearly. This research aimed to develop and evaluate the video lesson on Nasopharyngeal and Oral Suction in children for educating undergraduate nursing students. The video according to ADDIE Model was developed in March 2017 - April 2018. Sample was the 3rd year nursing students random from clinical settings for a total of 48. There are 3 phases: 1) assessment of situation and educational media needs, 2) development of VDO media and assessment of quality, and 3) evaluation of students’ knowledge, skill, and satisfaction. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistic and t-test dependent.
Results revealed that:
- 1. The efficiency at E1/E2 of the VDO lesson on Nasopharyngeal and Oral Suction in children was 81.25/83.25 was higher than the criterion of 80/80.
- 2. The scores of knowledge on Nasopharyngeal and Oral Suction of nursing students after the VDO lesson was significantly higher than the pretest (t = 12.47, p < .001).
- 3. The scores of Nasopharyngeal and Oral Suction skill examination of nursing students were pass the 65% cut point (95.83%, N=48)
4) The overall satisfaction on VDO lesson of nursing student was very high (Mean= 4.76, S.D. =.44).
This study indicates that the VDO lesson is effective for readiness preparation and promoting skills on nasopharyngeal and Oral Suctioning of nursing students.
