Discursive Practices in Pop Culture through Thai Country Music

Abstract

            This article is an attempt to reflect on the power struggle on discursive practices and culture reflected in pop culture through Thai country music. In a way that is linked to the economy of capitalism. Pop culture of Thai country music is transformed into a commodity. Through various types of discursive practices language operations. The production process is done to meet the supply of consumers in each age. Include competitive battles to scramble meaning and create social space for Thai country music and singers. Until it became a major issue of debate on mainstream culture, the class system, and domination, the phenomenon of Thai country music emerged as the legitimacy of pop culture inspired productions. Democratic rule that is free to call a bargain, to fight or to do any righteous thing. So the concept of producing contemporary Thai country music is a thoughtful encounter. Discursive practices implementation as well as attempts to absolve themselves of being overwhelmed in traditional culture.
