Abstract

This paper analyzed a Summative Test for the Human Evolution Course during the second semester of the 2007 academic year . The test under this research consisted of three type question: multiple choice ,matching and true or false. The analysis was based on content validity , difficulty index, discrimination index, and reliability using different formulas including those of Brennan ,Livingston and Glass. It was found from this research that the instructor should improve the validity of the test by providing more well-proportioned content from the different topics and should add more questions to assess the students' ability to apply knowledge in varying situations. Based on a total of thirty question, it was found that they had high a reliability index and the appropriate cut-off score was nineteen correct question/items were difficultly for students. Finally ,Nine of thirty students had total scores below the cut off scores and should be given additional lectures by the instructor.
