Abstract

This book review focus on the publication entirled "Thung Tuk,Ancient Trading Port", written by captianBunyarit Chaisuwan and Miss Raesri Naitawat, recently published by the Fine Arts Department Region Office 15,Phuket,Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture. The Book concerns with the archeological research conducted at the archeological site of Thing Tuk, Amphoe Takau Pa,Chang Wat Phang -Nga, Southern Thailand. It comprises 5 main chapters. In the the first chapter the authors described general geographical and natural characteristic of Changwat Phang-Nga. In the second chapter the aurtors reviewed the history of archeological researches conducted by various scholars in the Takua Pa River Valley during 1902-1984. In the third and forth chapters the authors described the result of their excavations conducted in 2007 at the Thung Tuk archeological . Good description and illustration of archeological monuments and artefacts discovered in the excavations can be found in these chapters. the last chapter represents an attempt of the authors to place the archeological site of Thung Tuk in its wider context. To reviewer, this book in considered as a "recommended" publication for those who are interested in the past of southern island.
