Carmen à Bangkok

Abstract

Since its first representation in 1875 /Carmen/, by French composer Georges Bizet, has become one of the world's most popular operas, Last year, Carmen was studied in a French literature course at Silpakorn University. When the course ended the students enjoyed a performance of Carmen by the Russian opera Theatre company. The production changed the time period from 19th Century to the late 1930's, when Spain was under Franco's rule.
