The Model of Learning Promotion for the Elderly Person after Retirement be Alive as Happiness According to Buddhist Way in Muang District, KhonKean Province

Abstract

This qualitative research aims: 1) to study the general condition of promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in Mueang district, KhonKaen province, 2) to study the happy living according to Buddhist principles and 3) to propose the promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in the happy living according to Buddhist This qualitative research aims: 1) to study the general condition of promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in Mueang district, KhonKaen province, 2) to study the happy living according to Buddhist principles and 3) to propose the promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in the happy living according to Buddhist principles in Mueang district, KhonKaen province. The target group who provides the important information are: the elderly who are members of the Government Pensioned Association (GPA) and the elderly in KhonKaen province by specific choosing: 1) members of the GPA and elderly in KhonKaen: 10 persons, 2) elderly families: 10persons, 3) government officials related to the elderly: 5 persons and 4) the monks: 5 monks, totally, 30 persons. The tools are used the structured interviews, group discussion (Focus Group), brainstorming together and descriptive analysis of interviews.


The research found that:


1. The general condition of promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in Mueang district, KhonKaen province was found that the promotion of activities for health care such as: doing exercise, dancing, singing, promotion of dressing due to the policy’ s province, charity events for supporting and encouraging the members to earn extra income including tourism activities, field trips and learning resources to promote the exchange of learning from the real place.


2. The happy living according to the Buddhist principle was found that: the 4Bhāvanācan be applied to the development of life to thrive by 4 principles: 1. Kāya-bhāvanā: physical development, 2. Sīla-bhāvanā: moral development, 3. Citta-bhāvanā: emotional development and 4. Paññā-bhāvanā: wisdom development.


3. The model of promoting of learning for the elderly after retirement in happy living according to the Buddhist principles in Meaung district, KhonKaen province was found that: KSCP AGING MODEL are the activities of four steps:1. Kāya-bhāvanā: physical development (K: Kāya) is the management of doing databases related to the Association’s members, 2. Sīla-bhāvanā: moral development (S:Sila) is gathering and knowledge development for benefits of the elderly, 3. Citta-bhāvanā: emotional development (C:Citta)i s the arrangement of supported place of learning in happy living according to the Buddhist principles and 4. Paññā-bhāvanā: wisdom development (P:Paññā) is creation of continued activities by encouraging of members to find out more exchange of the forum, experience and knowledge gained from the search.
