The Development Model of Life Skills for Transforming the Behavior Patterns in Line with Buddhism Guidelines for the Students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 26

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) study the concept, the theory and Buddhist principles in accordance withthe life skills development, 2) study the current problems in students’ life skills, and behavior modificationguideline for students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn school under the secondary educational service area office 26, 3) identify and present style ofthe life skills development model for behavior modificationin accordance  This study aimed to 1) study the concept, the theory and Buddhist principles in accordance withthe life skills development, 2) study the current problems in students’ life skills, and behavior modificationguideline for students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn school under the secondary educational service area office 26, 3) identify and present style ofthe life skills development model for behavior modificationin accordance with Buddhism on students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn school under the secondary educational service area office 26. Mixed research methodology was designed to use in this study as follows : 1) Quantitativeresearch - questionnaires were utilized to collect dataabout the current behavioral problems of students, and behavior modification guideline for 150 Grade 7-12 students who were population. The statistics used in data analysis were frequency, mean and standard deviation. and 2) Qualitative Research  participatory observation, in-depth interview, focus group discussion and workshop report, were utilized in this documentary investigation to collect data from 40 students who were the target group and 10 key informants. The findings were presented in the document form of qualitative descriptive research.  The findings of research were as follows: 1. based on the study of the concept, the theory and Buddhist principles in accordance withthe life skills development, to increase efficiency and effectiveness of human resource,organization, or society meeting the goal or objectives, must bedeveloped by 3 areas of activities composed of 1) training, 2) development, and 3) education. Besides, religion belief, values, reward, family, and environment whether it bestate of society, economic situations, or various media caused students’ influences of motivation. Buddhist principles–based is the main way of living for human to practice a good practical. Guidelines, according to apply Buddhist principles, are solving the problems by using the Four Noble Truths, practicing of the Threefold discipline, and hand in hand living based on Kalyanamitra-dhamma. 2. Based on the study of the current problems in students’ life skills, and behavior modificationguideline for students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn school under the secondary educational service area office 26, to be concerned about the students faced with problemsin many areaswhether it bedrug abuse, passion, gamble and game addict, lack of attention, and academic underachievement caused students’ quality of life. The results of students’ life skills behavior indicatedby overall aspects were at the average level. As well as, individual aspects, including the awareness and self esteem and others, the critical thinking, decision making and creative problem solving, dealing with emotion and stress, and building relationship with others, all aspects were at the average level. 3. Based on the life skills development model for behavior modification in accordance with Buddhism on students of Nong Muang Wittayakarn school under the secondary educational service area office 26, the model was composed of 4 packages ; youth counselor, school children counseling, integrated learning, and morals and ethicscamp, were integrated Buddhist principles by using the four noble Truths, the Threefold discipline, and Kalyanamitra-dhamma. The results of the studyindicated 4 aspects as follows : the awareness and self esteem and others used Buddhist principles Integration for students moral development, boosting students confidenceinall situation, honoring students who help others, service and school fame enhancement, the critical thinking, decision making and creative problem solving usedtraining students by using the package of problem solving skill based on the four noble Truths, creating friendlylearning environmentto makestudents feel relax and warm, promoting students to think positive, dealing with emotion and stress used practicing meditation before class in the morning, playing music instruments, promoting The practice of mindfulness and emotional calm, such as, creating works of art, and building relationship with others used practicing group work with peer-assisted based on Kalyanamitra-dhamma, cultivating the democracy minds of students, knowing to become a good leader or a good follower, training students’ virtue, concentration, and wisdom for living with others in school or society happily.
