Abstract

The objectives of this study was to study 1) the operating conditions, 2) problems and situation of people’s participation and, 3) the success factors in waste reduction and separation of the Sriwilai sub-district municipality. The key-informants were purposively categorized into 4 groups as fallows; 1) policy makers, 2) municipality officers, 3) related government agency and, 4) community members and stakeholders. The data were The objectives of this study was to study 1) the operating conditions, 2) problems and situation of people’s participation and, 3) the success factors in waste reduction and separation of the Sriwilai sub-district municipality. The data were collected by using in-depth interviews and focus-group discussion. Then descriptive and content analysis methods were utilized for data analysis.
The results of the study are as follows:
1. Sriwilai sub-district municipality focuses on the subject of recycled garbage. Because of the recycling of waste. When the deal is sorted, it is sold to the community before being sold. And a funeral fund. This is an important motivation for the community to get involved. And use the process of participation extends to the management of organic waste, general waste, hazardous waste to succeed. By using recycled garbage as capital. As a substrate Is characterized by Each community operates in the form of committees and junk bank members. There are officials from Sriwilai sub-district Municipality as mentors.
2. The main problems were the increasing volume of solid waste due to high consumption of household. But all groups agreed that waste management was a matter for all sectors to work together. It was not the duty of any one.
3. Success factors in solid waste management 1) Administrators policies that focus on community solid waste management and focus on waste management. 2) Participation of all sectors that are see together in the source waste management. 3) Motivation to work. Whether it is the income from the distribution of household waste and welfare from the Welfare Fund.
