The Effects of Using the Team - Game - Tournament Cooperative Learning Technique in the Topic of North America Continent on Learning Achievement and Group Working Skill of Mathayom Suksa III Students at Princess Chulabhorn’s College, Satun

Abstract

The purposes of this  research were (1)  to compare learning achievement of Mathayom Suksa III students, who studied using Team- Game- Tournament Cooperative Learning Technique and that of the students who studied using normal teaching, (2) to compare the pre- and post-learning achievements of the students with Team - Game -Tournament  Cooperative Learning Technique; and (3) to study the group working skill of the students. The sample consisted of 2 classes of Mathayom Suksa III students at Princess Chulabhorn’s College, Satun. The research instruments were (1) lesson plans using Team – Game – Tournament Cooperative Learning Technique, (2) normal teaching plan, (3) learning achievement tests, (4) a group working skill evaluation test, (5) a group working behavior observation form; and  (6) a group working skill questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were the mean, standard deviation and t-test. The research revealed that (1) the  learning achievement of the students with Team -Game - Tournament  Cooperative Learning Technique was statistically significantly higher than that of the students with normal teaching at .05 level; (2) the post learning achievement of the students with Team - Game - Tournament  Cooperative Learning Technique was statistically significantly higher than their pre-learning counterpart at .05 and (3) the group working skill of the students with  Team – Game – Tournament  Cooperative Learning Technique was at the good  level.
