A Study on Potentials of Cultural Tourism in Koeng Sub-district, Maha Sarakham Province

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the potentials of cultural tourism in Koeng Sub-district, Maha Sarakham Province, focusing on issues including attractiveness in tourism, supportive potentials in tourism, tourism management, and local participation. The study was designed in the qualitative approach. The data were collected by analysis of related documents and in-depth interview. The data were analyzed by the descriptive analysis, and the scope of time was in October 2017. The study results showed that the five tourist attractions were found to be potential in being developed to be cultural tourist attraction. It was also perceived that the area of Koeng Sub-district, Maha Sarakham Province had advantages in local history, art, cultures, and traditions. Consequently, it could be recommended that there should be decoration of surrounding
components to attract more tourists. Systematical management encourages local participation in order to develop sustainable cultural tourism. Keywords : Cultural Tourism, Koeng Sub-district, Maha Sarakham Province, descriptive analysis
