Thai Classical Music Instruction for The Elderly in Thailand : A Case Study of Quality of Life for Elderly Development Center Nonthaburi Municipality

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Thai classical music instructional process for older adults in Thai context. This study was conducted by using the qualitative research method. The data were collected form 1)Thai classical music teachers 2)Thai classical students 3)Administrator through semi structure interview and observation. Data was analyzed by content analysis then presented through form of essay.

          The result shows that 1)in Thai context, an instructor become a facilitator instead, the learning atmosphere is informal 2)environment preparation for learners is needed, plastic chairs, musical instruments and note stand should be prepared before the class begins 3)learners can choose freely which song they want to learn and perform  4) older adults have 2 objectives to learn, firstly, they want to be happy and use music as recreation tools, secondly, they want to develop their well-being. 5) learning process has 2 steps; instructing and  practicing. 6) learning evaluation include in-class evaluation and outside classroom evaluation.
