The objective of this research is to study the&nbsp;history of the Boun Ho Kaw Pa Dub Din and background based on the&nbsp;document research and the field data study with in the following districts&nbsp;have: 1) Sisattanak 2) Chanthabouly and 3) Sikhottabong This&nbsp;research data is a qualitative research conducted using the following&nbsp;tools: surveys and observations. The data was analyzed and presented<br>through descriptive analysis and accompanied by pictures.&nbsp;From the study, it was found that the Boun Ho Kaw Pa Dup&nbsp;Din was part of the Heet 12 tradition that concerns the afterlife of the&nbsp;deceased these people. The ceremony is about dedicating the good&nbsp;karma to the ancestral spirits and the spirits if “Prets” the people can’t&nbsp;see it in the work which shows the relationship between the people&nbsp;and the spirits as well as the people and society. This tradition also&nbsp;focuses on remembering the good deeds that the deceased had done.&nbsp;The tradition can be traced back to the time of Lord Buddha when&nbsp;King Bimbisar gave merits to Gautama Buddha but not to the Prets.&nbsp;Later on, the Prets came screaming howling and asking for the merits&nbsp;from him. There fore, he gave the merits to them through the Kruad&nbsp;Nam ceremony (the pouring of the water onto the ground as dedication&nbsp;to the spirit) which helped lessen the suffering that the Prets had to<br>endure in hell. The participants in the study were 25 grade 1 students from Assumption College Thonburi, in academic year 2015. The researcher was responsible in teaching 50-minute music lessons using the teaching module for the participants, once a week, for 12 weeks. The research instruments in this study consisted of: 1) activity plans, 2) Listening Skills Assessment forms were used as pretest and posttest in every lesson, and 3) Student Interview Questionnaires. Data collection was done in 3 parts: 1) pretest and posttest using Listening Skills Assessment forms, (2) observing students’ behavior during the music lessons, and (3) interviewing students to assess their attitude toward music lessons. The data of listening scores were analyzed by comparing the pretest with posttest listening scores of each students. The data from observing students’ behavior during music lessons and interviewing students to assess their attitude toward music lessons were analyzed using content analysis method.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The results of this study showed the effectiveness of the developed teaching module to improve students’ listening skills. The posttest scores of listening skills were higher than the pretest. Most of the students’ scores in every lesson were at “Good” level. The scores were 81.3% in listening to rhythm, 76% in listening to pitch, 69.4% in listening to musical expression, and 66.6% in listening to musical form. From observing students’ behavior and interviewing students to assess their attitude, most students enjoyed and intended to learn and cooperate in class. The use of or playing the long drums for competition at the district’s annual Amazing Long Drum Playing Festival&nbsp; (On son klong yao chao Wapi khong dee puen ban) began for the first time in 1996.The current situations and problems of using such instruments for cultural competition that affected economic, social and cultural aspects of the district under study. Currently, there were 4 groups of the long drum makers. The first group was Mr. Thiang Pintapakang. The rest were the groups of Ban Talard, Ban Kok, and Ban Chokkwang respectively. At the beginning, long drums were made quite roughly due to backward village technology. Later they adopted some machinery for making long drums with a fine and standard quality meeting the needs of most long drum cultural shows. The research employed a qualitative research methodology of interviewing seven authorities on Thai cats and classical Thai music. The research findings were analysed and presented as a descriptive analysis.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The research findings include the composition of the Cat’s Suite describing the unique characteristics of the five existing types of Thai cats and data from the survey and study of historical evidences relating to Thai cats from different sources of information and textbooks. These data were used in the creative composition of the Cat’s Suite which is based on the musical form of the Phleng Thap genre of the classical Thai music. The data were collected from four students playing trombone and baritone instrument who used this instruction package over a period of 12 weeks (1hour per week). Each week (a pretest and posttest were given.) Students were assigned to record their performance each week followed by an informal interview.</p> <p>An exercise to improve trombone performance technique had content that was divided into 12 hours. The topics related to the trombone in four primary areas namely improving sound quality, lip slur, scale and short song performance.</p> <p>In practical tests, it was found that the scores of development of trombone performance were better in every topic. The findings were presented in the form of descriptive analysis.</p> <p>Results of the study indicated that, in terms of background, Mor Lam Phuen can be classified into the classical period (beginning), classical period (later), and current period. During the classical period (beginning), the performance started at 9.00 p.m. and continued until dawn. There was no actual stage, but only a single mat spread on the ground. The spectators also sat on their mats. There were no electrical appliances to amplify sounds, but only the light from “torch.” Before beginning the performance, the singers had to perform Wai Khru ceremony to pay homage to and inform their teachers and sacred spirits around that area in order to make the performance a success. Mor Lam singers’ primary objective of this ritual was to boost their confidence before beginning the performance. After Wai Khru ceremony, performance started. During the classical period (later), the performance started at 9.00 p.m. and continued until dawn. Before starting the performance, Wai Khru ceremony was also performed backstage just like in the beginning period. After the Wai Khru ceremony, the performance began. During the current period, the performance also started at 9.00 p.m. and continued until dawn. It could be seen that during this period, songs were sung in combination with the music of Mor Lam artists.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In terms of lyric and melody, Mor Lam melody was an easy listening one accompanied by <em>khaen</em> (reed mouth organ) with high and low pitches reciting the poem, but the end sound was the same as the beginning. Ad-lib was usually long. However, ad-lib was rarely used since a Mor Lam artist had to make sure that he/she recited every word in the poem, which was usually long, and had to be sung continuously without a break. With regards to breathing, since the lyric or poem was very long, Mor Lam artists could hardly take a full breath so they had to repeat the words in order to take a breath before continuing with the singing. For the music speed, it is changed along with the sections of the music. In term of the composing technique, Lt.Col Prateep Suphanrojn has adapted western composing technique to the music suitably and this has created the result in the harmonious sound by western musical instruments that have the unique characteristics by which the characteristic of the music is still well maintained. This includes making the main rhythm to be separated to various musical instruments and the chord characteristic that is in harmony with each form of rhythm. This includes the use of the western symphonic composing technique considered to make the music colorful and interesting by using the pedal tone with parallel perfect intervals and for the group of melodies and additional rhythm, it is done by using ostinato and syncopation effectively.
