Abstract

Waste management is a serious environmental problem in Thailand. However, Waste management is ineffective because the relevant legal measures do not cover the whole system of waste management. The laws cover only down-stream measures, namely waste collection and waste disposal, but provides nothing on waste minimization, reuse and recycle. Thereby, the effective waste management has been a challenging task for the country’s sustainable development.

This thesis studies the laws of Republic of Korea, which succeeds at waste management. By a comparative law methodology, Korean and Thai legal measures are analyzed and compared in order to pave the way to improve the latter in the context of reduce reuse and recycle.
