Abstract

Cobalt doped Barium ferrite (BaCoFe11O19) was synthesized by sol gel process at annealing temperatures, Ta, of 700 to 1050 oC and annealing time, ta, of 2 hr. The maximum value of the product of the magnetization and external magnetic fields, gif.latex?\sigmaHmax, and coercivity, Hc, were 8775.68 Oeemu/g and 2492.50 Oe, respectively at Ta = 850 oC. The trend of saturation magnetization, gif.latex?\sigmas, increases with incresing Ta from 700 to 1000 oC then decreases when Ta were over 1000 oC and the maximum value were 41.21 emu/g at 1000 oC. In addition, the effect of ta to the magnetic properties and crystal sturtures of BaCoFe11O19 at Ta = 1000 oC was investigated. By increasing ta from 1 to 5 hr with step size of 1 hr. We found that the maximum value of gif.latex?\sigmaHmax and gif.latex?\sigmas were 6583.38 Oeemu/g and 41.21 emu/g respectively, at Ta = 1000 oC and ta = 2 hr according to the average crystal size, <D> . The <D> increases with increasing Ta and ta and keeps constant. <D> of 1185.85 Å at Ta = 1000 oC and ta = 2 hr.
