Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's policies. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process. Authors need to read the author's guidelines for preparation of the manuscript as follows.

Applied Science and Engineering Progress is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal that publishes research works related to applied science and technology. The articles will be examined by a scientific editorial committee and anonymous reviewers under a double-blinded scheme. All peer-reviewed accepted manuscripts with high research quality and ethical standards are published with free access to all readers. All articles submitted to Applied Science and Engineering Progress are reviewed based on the following aspects, originality of work (no plagiarism), relevance to the scope of the journal, systematical and clarity of presentation (correct language and presentation), and novelty of work.

 

How to prepare a manuscript

General instructions

- Use the template to prepare your manuscript. Please find the Applied Science and Engineering Progress manuscript template in the Download tab.

- Submission manuscript in MS Word only.

- Manuscript length is limited to a maximum of twelve printed pages.

- Keep the text in two columns.

- The paper size is 18.4 cm x 26 cm in height. Set page margins at 25 mm for the top and 20 mm for the bottom margins, 10 mm for left, and 10 mm for right. The first page and all uneven pages should have a right-hand layout: right margin at 10 mm and left margin at 10 mm. The even pages should have a left-hand layout: left margin at 10 mm and right margin at 10 mm.

- Place the tables and figures in the appropriate places for manuscript content.       

- Paragraph lines should be single-spaced.

- The official language of the manuscript is English.

Article title

- Put the title under the top margin. The title should be in 12-point Times New Roman Bold with left-justification.The first letter of the first word and of all major words must be capitalized, major words must start with a capital.

- Title should be brief and concise

Authors name and addresses

- The authors’ names and affiliations should be typed in 10-point Times New Roman.

- Corresponding author should be marked as superscript *

- Emails of the corresponding author must be written below the address

Abstract

- Not exceed 250 words. Typed in 10-point Times New Roman

- Provide a brief summary of the contents of your paper. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the key results and conclusions.

- Uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. If needed, they must be defined at their first mention in the abstract. References are excluded.

Keywords

- Authors have to provide 4 to 6 keywords.

- The keywords should be typed in 10-point Time New Roman and each keyword must be separated with a comma.

Introduction

- Introduction should describe finding from pioneer work, the importance of research, and relevance to the current work.

- Introduction should be supported by sufficient and reasonable references.

Materials and methods

- The methods should be described in sufficient detail about the preparations of solutions, chemicals, data collection, and instrumentation.

- The make numbers and the model of the instruments should be mentioned.

- The method for statistical analysis and the level of significance chosen shall be clearly stated.

Results

- The findings presented in the tables or in the graphical form must be described.

- The data should be statistically analyzed and the level of significance is to be mentioned.

- All tables and figures must have a caption and a legend.

Discussion

- This part must describe the implication of the results, and the logical statements in support of the findings of the author.

- There must not be a repetitive statement of conclusion.

- The author may write the applications and the importance of the work to peer-researcher and society.

Acknowledgements

The acknowledgement should be concise and must be written about the original supporters of the work and funding agency.

References

- The relevant works must be cited and listed at the end of the paper.

- Their numbers must be run chronologically in the order of citation appearance.

- Unpublished data and information from personal contact are not allowed to be used as references.

- To cite the references in the text body of the paper, use the number in a square brackets, e.g. [1], [2], [1]–[3]. Each citation should be followed by a full stop.

- Examples of references to journal articles and papers, technical reports, proceedings, and books are illustrated as follows:

Terminology and symbols

The nomenclature must appear at the end of the paper. The SI units are highly recommended for this journal.

Style

- Avoid using bold and underlining in your paper.

- Use a consistent spelling style throughout the paper (US or UK).

- Use single quotes.

- Use %, not percent.

- Do not use ampersands (&) except as part of the official name of an organization or company.

- Keep hyphenation to a minimum. Do not hyphenate ‘coordinate’ or nonwords, such as ‘nonlinear’.

- Do not end headings with full stops.

- We recommend using no more than three levels of headings, for example,

- Do not start headings at the foot of a column or with only one line of text below. Put the heading on the next column or page.

- Leave a single space after all punctuation marks.

Mathematic text and equations

- Equations should be justified to the left margin and numbered at the right margin. Leave a single space before and after the equation, as indicated in Equation (1) below,

- Use the 10 points, Times New Roman for the equation, e.g. italics for variables, bold for vectors (without arrows), bold italic for variable vectors, and capital bold italic for variable matrices.

- The order of brackets should be {[( )]}, except where brackets have special significance.

Figures and tables 

General points of artwork

- Make sure that all figures, tables, graphs, and line drawings are clear, sharp and of the highest quality for publication. Please submit each illustration as a separate file.

- Lines weights range from 0.2 points to 1.5 points.

- Diagrams, graphics, and preferred photographs should be prepared in grayscale. The characters or numbers in the figures and/or tables must be typed as 10-point Times New Roman (8-point minimum). If the characters of numbers in a figure are smaller than the aforementioned font, extend the figure across two columns.

- Prepare tables as editable text and not as images for publishing process of the journal editorial team.

- Avoid using vertical rules and shading in table cells.

- Your figures could be created by Microsoft Office. When those artworks are finalized, please “save as” or convert your images to one of the following formats: 

           EPS (or PDF): Vector drawings, embed all used fonts.
           TIFF (or JPEG): Color or grayscale photographs (halftones), keep to a minimum of 300 dpi. 
           TIFF (or JPEG): Bitmapped (pure black & white pixels) line drawings, keep to a minimum of 1000 dpi. 
           TIFF (or JPEG): Combinations of bitmapped line/half-tone (color or grayscale), keep to a minimum of 500 dpi.
 
- For color artwork, please make sure that files are in TIFF, JPEG, EPS, PDF, or Microsoft Office formats with the correct resolution. For color reproduction in print, the author will receive information regarding the costs from Applied Science and Engineering Progress after receipt of your accepted article. Please indicate your preference for color: in print or online only.

Numbering, captions, and positioning

- The figure and table numbering must be provided in consecutive order, e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 or Table 1, Table 2, Table 3.

- The caption of a figure must be placed under the figure itself. And the caption of a table must be placed above the table.

- Use (a), (b), (c) to distinguish individual subjects in a composite figure. For example, Figure 1 (or Table 1) must be used for reference in the text.

- Make sure that the size of figures and tables must be fitted to the page margins, and do not wrap the text around the figures.

Ethics of human and animal experimentation

Those articles which are describing experimental work on humans or animals should submit approval from the ethical committee of the institution where the actual work was carried out. The research must meet the applicable international standards of the ethics of experimentation and research integrity. Authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation. For research involving animals, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the standards set forth in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

Proof Correction

Once the article is accepted after peer review, the article is published online and a PDF in journal format is prepared to be published in the hardcopy version.

- A copy of this PDF file is e-mailed to the corresponding author for proofreading.

- The proofreading of the article should be very careful before sending it back to the managing editor and then PDF version will be uploaded on the website as an online publication.

After acceptance

A digital object identifier (DOI) is a unique alphanumeric string assigned by a registration agency (the International DOI Foundation) to identify content and provide a persistent link to its location on the Internet. The assigned DOI is never subjected to changes. Hence, it is an ideal medium for citing a document, particularly ‘Articles in press’ as their full bibliographic information is not received by them.

Licensing Policy

Applied Science and Engineering Progress is an open-access journal, therefore we follow the Creative Commons Attribution-Non commercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License, in which;

- The authors reserve all major rights of the published article like proprietary and patents rights.

- The Applied Science and Engineering Progress and the author will equally enjoy other benefits of the published article in future works of  their own, such as lectures, press releases, views in textbooks, periodicals, and reprinting of the whole or a part of the published article.

- In the case of republication of the whole, part, or parts there of, in periodicals or reprint publications by a third party, written permission must be obtained from the Editor‐in‐Chief of Applied Science and Engineering Progress.  

Ethics in publishing

Applied Science and Engineering Progress’s Publication Ethics is based on the guidelines and standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE https://publicationethics.org/).

Submission and Copyright declaration

After acceptance by peer review, a copyright form is requested from the corresponding authors to confirm that the work has not been either published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Conflict of interest

All authors are requested to declare no conflict of interest including any financial, personal, or other relationships with other people or organizations that can influence their work.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism and self-copying contents are absolutely prohibited in Applied Science and Engineering Progress.

Manuscript submission:

Authors are needed to register on the journal website and manuscripts can be submitted online.

Correction and retraction policy

Retractions are done when the major conclusion of the work is seriously mistakenly described. Corrections are published under Corrections and erratum if the publication is notified that inaccuracy of work is present.

Changes in authors

Before sending the manuscript for the author’s proofreading, authors can request to modify the author’s names by sending the request to the managing editor and explaining the reasons including ;

- Reason to change, add or remove any author confirmation from all authors that they agree with this adjustment.
