PROBLEM AND OBSTACLES OF MUSIC AND MOVIES CD PIRACY : A CASE STUDY OF DEPARTMENT OF OPERATING POLICE OFFICER SUB-DIVISION 4, ECONOMIC CRIME SUPPESSION DIVISION

บทคัดย่อ

This qualitative research was conducted to study problem and obstacles during the police officers suppression of music and movies CD piracy as well as explore factors obstructing efficient performance.  Structured Interview had been arranged to collect data from 12 key informants, namely the operating officers Sub-division 4 selected by Purposive Sampling.

The findings indicate that problems and obstacles occurred during the suppression are the difficulty of police officers accessing the perpetrators’ illegal production sites due to several entrepreneurs conspiring with the perpetrators. Moreover, the illegal distribution of music and movies CD piracy has been evolved as being seen from products sale through women or children as the law prohibited harsh sentences on underage juvenile. For the police officers, the lack of efficient and modern equipment which essential for operation obstructed their performances. The study results suggest that the contributed factors on suppression of music and movies CD piracy are the need to expand the police officers’ knowledge as well as enhance their performance capabilities on the apprehension of perpetrators. In addition, the police officers must be knowledgeable and well informed on Intellectual Property issue, related laws, as well as encouraging the police officers to increase learning potential through training and consistently practicing new techniques to be familiar with performance skills variation.
