We are thrilled to announce the 5th Built Environment Research Associates Conference (BERAC 2024), which will be held on June 25th, 2024, at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference is being organized by the Thammasat Design School (TDS) of Thammasat University.

The theme of the conference is "Synergy in Global Perspectives: Innovations Driving Sustainable Development across Borders". The conference will cover the following areas of interest:

The Journal of Architectural/Planning Research and Studies (JARS) has now been accepted for the Scopus database. JARS’s editorial team is deeply thankful to the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI), TCI-TSRI-Scopus Collaboration Project (Phase 3), and the local board for their suggestion for journal quality improvement. We are currently in the waiting process for a license agreement with Scopus for indexing. The editorial team will keep our authors updated when the indexing process is commenced. We'll continue to work hard to improve the journal's quality.

Welcoming JARS' new Associate Editor-in-Chief and new Editorial Board Members

We are pleased to warmly welcome Dr. Kim Neil Irvine as our new Associate Editor-in-Chief, along with our new Editorial Board Members, Dr. Andrew Law (University of Newcastle, UK), Dr. Nobuo Mishima (Saga University, Japan), and Dr. Mohamed Salem (Australian University, Kuwait). We are looking forward to their contributions to the journal.

JARS Participated TCI (Thai Journal Citation Index Centre) Acitivies

On 10th October 2023, The JARS journal editorial team consists of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manat Srivanit, Assistant Dean for Knowledge Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pattamon Selanon, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, and Ms. Natwara Saardaiam, Secretary-General of the journal. They attended the "Editors' Workshop for Preparing Journals in Thai for Scopus Inclusion" as part of the "TCI-TSRI-Scopus Collaboration Project Phase 3 (2023-2025)" at the Thai-Journal Citation Index Center (TCI), Office of the President Building, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. This workshop aimed to prepare the necessary information for submitting the journal to the Scopus database.

On 8th December 2022, JARS has participated the meeting event titled “Improvement of Thai journals quality in order to be indexed in the Scopus database 2023-2025”organized by TCI (Thai Journal Citation Index Centre) at Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort.

On 11th October 2022, JARS consulted with the Editorial Board of Trends in Sciences (TiS) at Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat on how to improve journal’s quality in order to be indexed in Scopus database.

On 21th July 2022, Thammasat Design School and CDAST – Council of Deans of Architecture Schools of Thailand hosted an event of Improvement of Thai journals quality in order to be indexed in the Scopus database. Guest speakers of the event included Professor Narongrit Sombatsompop, Ph.D. – the director of the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI) and Assistant Professor Sutee Anantsuksomsri, Ph.D. and Pat Seeumpornroj, Ph.D. – the Nakhara : Journal of Environmental Design and Planning Editorial Board.

Since 2002, the Journal of Architectural / Planning Research and Studies (JARS) has served as an advanced research and studies journal dedicating to fields of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Planning, Real Estate Management, and Design Related Issues. Over the years, the journal continually improves to keep its position as a leading journal in the fields. Some of major updates include publishing bilingually, improving website, providing shorter submission to decision time, etc.

On behalf of JARS’s Editorial Board, I would like to make an announcement of the journal’s significant change. In the upcoming year of 2021, our aim is to reach for an international standard and to be indexed in an international database such as Scopus. And in order to reach the goals, accepting only English manuscript is essential. For a smooth transition, we will warmly welcome submission of manuscripts in both Thai and English from 1st January to 31st March, 2021. Beginning with 1st April, 2021, the submission for the journal needs to be in English only.

Please be noted that the new submitted manuscripts can be published in Volume 19 (2022) Issue 2. However, with our in-progress online publishing format, the new accepted manuscript can come out at least 6 months in advance.

This transformation is a huge challenge for the journal in this dynamic era. I sincerely hope that JARS shall continue to be chosen by both submitters and readers. If there is any inquiry regarding English translation or others, please contact us. We will respond to any authors’ concern in a timely manner.
